  • Burial Rites The best-selling book Burial Rites by Australian Hannah Kent has been published in over 20 languages and has sold millions of copies worldwide. The story is told in North Iceland and features many details about the volcanoes, northern lights, and the turf houses of the area.

Author Hannah Kent wrote the popular book Burial Rites after visiting Iceland as a teenager. Now the Australian will get to see her novel make the jump to the big screen.

Actress Jennifer Lawrence has signed on to play the main role of Agnes Magnúsdóttir, a young woman sentenced to death for her part in the murder of Natan Ketilsson and Pétur Jónnsson.

Kent's account of Iceland's last execution is a chilling tale that has captured the attention of an international audience. Published in over twenty languages, the story highlights Northern Iceland as a magical place with volcanoes, northern lights, turf houses, and an amazing landscape.

And now, according to RUV, the text is available in Icelandic. The book was translated into Icelandic by Jón Stefán Kristjánsson and is searchable under the title "Náðarstund."
