The National Broadcasting Service, RÚV, will offer viewers a spectacular TV experience starting at 9 pm tonight. A broadcasting van will travel the Ring Road (Hringvegurinn) around the country, transmitting live from the trip while constantly playing a brand new single by Sigur Rós called Óveður.

The broadcast is RÚV‘s second attempt at ‘slow television’, a term used for a genre of live marathon television coverage of ordinary events in its complete length, made popular by Norway’s public broadcasting service, NRK.

According to Kári Sturluson, who works for Sigur Rós, Óveður will be played through a new music technology called Bronze, which ‘reinterprets the piece on each listening’, meaning the listener will never hear the song twice.

The broadcast is done in cooperation with Google, Youtube and Ruv.is
