After having had to jump over a few more hurdles of bureaucracy than they anticipated, the owners of the new café Kaffi Laugalækur are finally able to open its doors to the general public on 9th September. The accompanying hostel will open later in the autumn but from Friday guests can visit the restaurant and the on site barbershop and art gallery.

Café and bistro Lunch, dinner or a cup of coffee, your choice.

The family run cafe is a project of childhood friends Hörður Jóhannesson and Björn Arnar Hauksson. It is located in the Laugarnes neighbourhood - just a stone’s throw away from a number of local gourmet shops, the popular Laugardalslaug swimming pool, the botanical gardens, The Reykjavík City Hostel, The Laugardalur camp site and Laugardalur Petting Zoo and Family Park. It’s a few minutes drive or around 20 minutes walk from downtown Reykjavík.

Kaffi Laugalækur is a family friendly cafe with designated play area for the kids and a special menu for the little people.
The grown-ups can choose between various drinks, coffee, tea or if they prefer something stronger, premium Icelandic beers or organic wine.
