Danish specialty brewery To Øl will host a Tap Takeover night at the excellent Kex Hostel bar and restaurant, Sæmundur í sparifötunum, this Thursday night, January 29th.

To Øl (Danish meaning Two Beers) is the brainchild of Tobias Emil Jensen and Tore Gynther who founded the small brewery in 2010 with the aim of brewing beers that pushes the boundaries of beers.

They are close collaborators with another fantastic experimental Danish brewery, Mikkeller. Together with Icelandic restaurateurs they will open a Mikkeller and Friends bar in Reykjavík later this year.

To Øl is a so-called gipsy or nomad brewery meaning they don’t own their own brewing equipment, but brew their ambitious recipes at others instead. This one-off night at Kex sounds very exciting indeed.

To Øl mission statement:

Stay away from supermarkets – If being in a supermarket means, that we have to make compromises with the quality of the ingredients that we use, then we rather stop brewing beers.

Skál! To To Øl!

Have a drive and edge – Our goal is to provoke and push the boundaries for the very perception of beer. Meanwhile we just want to have fun doing it. We should never forget that we are making beer and not politics!

Let the beer carry the message – Agreed, we think it’s fun to provoke, inspire and communicate through different kinds of media. But in the end, the quality of the beer should be the best story, nothing else.
